Wellbore work covers trajectory, fluids, integrity, completions and the barrier envelope that must remain true after the rig has left.
Integrity is a life-of-well problem
A completion that cannot be described in the handover file is not complete. Cement, casing, wellhead and the Christmas tree are a system. We plan them as one.
Intervention and workover use the same barrier language as original construction. Different contractors do not get different physics.
What the wellhead is telling you
Valves, chokes and gauges are not ornaments. They are the last mechanical sentences in a well-control story that started in the reservoir. If a gauge cannot be read, it is not a gauge.
Handover to production includes annulus monitoring, lock-open/lock-close status and the drawings that match the steel.
Abandonment is still wellbore technology
Permanent barriers are designed, placed and evidenced. A well that no longer flows is not a well that no longer exists. We treat P&A with the same hold-points as a development well.
In practice
A pressure test is a sentence in the well’s biography.
We photograph gauges only when the reading is part of the evidence pack. The BOP, the wellhead and the Christmas tree each get their own tests. Mixing them in one paragraph is how evidence gets lost.

A well is a system of barriers
Primary barrier is usually hydrostatic — the mud column. Secondary is mechanical — the BOP. If either is unproven, the bit does not turn.
Offshore and onshore fail differently
Offshore is weather, marine spread and the stack. Onshore is access, water, pads and neighbours. Do not copy a jack-up plan onto a land pad.
Hold-points are cheaper than incidents
A hold-point is a named gate with a criterion and an owner. ISO 45001 is the management-system language. A poster is not.
Transition is still a live-plant job
Solar on a producing location still needs isolations, lifting and SIMOPS. Reliability first. Intensity reduction second.
Records must match the steel
Investor administration uses the same idea as well control: nothing posts without evidence.
Communities are an operating condition
Roads, noise, local workforce and grievance routes belong in the mobilisation pack.
Safety as an operating condition
If a gate cannot stop the date, it is decoration.
P&ES treats competence, barriers, SIMOPS and return-to-service as hold-points. Digital tracking names who released the step. Stop-work is not insubordination.
